Rick van Doorn about the large IKEA order
Lorrene Jalina of Giving Germany has been able to secure this beautiful order partly due to her experience and expertise. This order concerns 3 different gift boxes for the staff of IKEA Germany. Prior to receiving the order, the Category Management department checked whether the goods could be delivered through us. Given the complexity of the order (including handling) and the order value, it was decided to turn this into a seperated project. This so that all departments involved are informed in advance and can also provide feedback on how to set this up. The project started on September 10, involving the departments Sales, Logistics, Category Management, Finance and IT. The board was also involved in this project. On September 10, the team received a presentation from Lorrene showing the different packages. In addition, the indicative numbers for that moment. On September 20, the numbers became official and we could immediately start making this project successful.
Between September and today there have been several moments with challenging topics of conversation. This includes the topics of how we were able to fill these packages on time with the complexity of the number of items and receipts in our warehouse. In addition, the discussions about whether we deliver to 1 central point, or to the more than 60 addresses of IKEA itself. These conversations have all been short and to the point and we were often able to switch quickly within a few minutes. Lorrene has been able to communicate quickly with the customer time and time again, Fred has been able to switch quickly with regard to packaging, shipping and handling issues, among other things. I myself was responsible for the purchase of the goods. We all reported to Arno for a complete overview.
The order has partly been celebrated with the beating of the gong, but we are not quite there yet! The project is currently ongoing and we expect the first two packages to be delivered this week for trading and shipping to 1 delivery address. The third box is still running and we will deliver partly this year and partly in Q1 2022.
On Sunday 7 November, the four of us visited the company that filled the first package.
My compliments to the entire project team because this project is a good example of the core values that Favorite Gifts stands for, Speed + Simplicity + Fun = Success.
